FOH POSITION

We are looking for someone who wants to be a part of our growing hospitality team in the capacity of taproom server, bartender or host. This is an hourly position that would require availability on weekends and late nights for an average of four days per week. Candidate must hold a valid BASSETT and City of Chicago Food Server certification. If the following characteristics describe your personality and work interests, fill out the application form below.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS:
(BARTENDER, SERVER)

  • Acquires and maintains intimate knowledge of all our beers and food options.
  • Maintains and promotes a clean and safe working environment.
  • Reports to work on time and with ample physical and mental energy to genuinely and enthusiastically interpret Half Acre hospitality systems.
  • Is able to independently complete bar opening and closing procedures.
  • Is able to correctly reconcile end of shift reporting of own revenue center.
  • Promptly greets and warmly welcomes our guests while also clearly communicating what they can expect from their experience with us.
  • Is able to communicate as much or as little information as the customer desires in order to completely satisfy the customer's expectations.
  • Always finds a way to do the right thing for the customer by taking initiative and or enlisting the help of peers or managers.
  • Is able to assess the happiness of our customers at the different stages of their experience in the taproom, so as to find a way to go the extra mile to improve it while they are still our guests.
  • Maintains positive and energizing relationships with FOH and BOH staff and finds ways to help where help is needed.
  • Knows many regulars by name and knows their dining and drinking preferences.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS:
(HOST)

  • Promptly greets and warmly welcomes our guests and checks IDs.
  • Finds genuine and appropriate ways to quickly connect with guests just entering our taproom to eradicate any possible awkwardness and anxiety, making them feel at ease.
  • Quickly establishes how many people in the party, their desires to drink, eat or do both, and seats accordingly.
  • In case of a waiting list, clearly communicates expected wait time with ample room to positively surprise guests and takes their phone numbers in case they want to leave and would like a text when a table is open. 
  • Enthusiastically thanks guests upon departure.
  • Is helpful in recommending other venues in the case we cannot meet guests' expectations (wait is too long, want a full bar, etc).

COMPENSATION:
(BARTENDER, SERVER, HOST)

  • Competitive hourly wage with regularly scheduled increases.
